Windows 11

Windows 11 Beta

October 4, 2021 by Jahnvi Pahwa Leave a Comment

Microsoft’s new update to Windows is releasing on October 5, 2021. But people who want an early sight of Windows 11 can download and install it from the Windows Insider program.

Before installing the major update on your PC, it is better to check the compatibility of your computer.  If your system is not advanced enough then you may feel problems while using Windows 11 on your PC. Here are the requirements for Windows 11 that your PC/Laptop should have.

  • Processor- 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster with 2 or more cores on a compatible 64-bit processor or System on a Chip (SoC)
  • RAM- 4GB
  • Storage- 64GB or more
  • System Firmware- UEFI, Secure Boot Capable
  • TPM- TPM Version 2.0
  • Graphics Card- DirectX 12 or later with WDDM 2.0 driver
  • Display- HD display that is greater than 9” diagonally, 8 bits per color channel
  • Internet- Microsoft account and internet connectivity
  • \

An early build of Windows 11 is now available in the Windows 11 Beta Channel of the Windows Insider Program. The Windows Insider program is divided into three channels:

The Dev Channel

This channel is best for technical users and developers. It is where new features are introduced for initial testing. These builds will have rough edges and some instability that could block key activities or require workarounds.

The Beta Channel

Ideal for early adopters. Insiders and IT Professionals in the Beta Channel can check out upcoming Windows 10 features, while still getting relatively reliable updates that are validated by Microsoft.

The Release Preview Channel

The Release Preview Channel is where Microsoft recommends companies preview and validate upcoming Windows 10 releases before broad deployment within the organization. It’s meant for final testing of an upcoming release and is best for those who want the most stable builds.

How to get the Windows 11 beta: Join the Windows Insider Program

The Windows Insider Program is the only way to get access to this early Windows 11 build. Provided you’ve got an active Microsoft account, signing up is for free and a simple process:

  • On your Windows 10 PC, open Settings
  • Head to Update & Security and choose ‘Windows Insider Program’ from the left pane
  • If you’re not already signed up, click the ‘Get Started’ button
  • From the pop-up that appears, click ‘Link an account’
  • Choose from an account that’s already signed in, or log in with new details
  • On the next screen, choose either the ‘Dev Channel’ or ‘Beta Channel’, although we’d recommend the latter if device stability or bugs are a concern. Windows 11 isn’t available in the ‘Release Preview Channel’ yet
  • Hit ‘Confirm’ on this screen and the next, which indicates you agree to the terms and conditions

To complete signup, you’ll need to restart your PC. Choose whether to do that now or later

That’s the hard bit done – now you’ll just need to install the beta like you do for any other update.

How to install the Windows 11 beta: Download the update

Once you’re a member of the Insider Program, installing the Windows 11 beta couldn’t be easier:

  • Head to Settings > Update & Security
  • From the Windows Update tab, choose ‘Check for updates’
  • After a few seconds, an update named ‘Windows 11 Insider Preview’ will automatically begin downloading
  • Once it’s finished, you’ll be prompted to restart your PC. Click ‘Restart now’ to do it straight away

That’s it! Once your PC has installed the update, the Windows 11 beta will be ready to use. Don’t worry, all your apps and files will remain intact.

Windows 11 Previews

October 4, 2021 by Jahnvi Pahwa Leave a Comment

After 6 years of no major updates in Windows 10, Microsoft has announced a big update on its operating system. The largest computer software company will roll out Windows 11 on October 5, 2021 with some great changes in user interface. We found out that, even though there are changes in look, it is not really different from Windows 10.

Check Compatibility

To download Windows 11, the first step is to check the compatibility of your PC. There are some basic hardware requirements to install Windows 11. Technically, for your PC to run Windows 11, it will need a processor that has two or more cores and a clock speed of 1GHz or higher. It will also need to have RAM of 4GB or more, and at least 64GB storage. The PC will also need a TPM security version of TPM 1.2 or higher and SecureBootCapable support.

If you don’t want to wait for the OS update, there’s good news for the members of the Windows Insider Program who can download the Windows 11 Insider Preview build today and test out some of its new features, such as widgets, snap layouts, virtual desktops and the new Microsoft Store.

Here’s how you can download Windows 11 Previews

If you’re not a member of the Windows Insider Program, make sure you sign up now as it is  for free. You can now download a preview build of Windows 11. For most people, it’s best to wait for the general release starting in October. This first build also doesn’t include every new feature that will eventually arrive with the general release.

If you still want to try it out? Here’s how.

  1. Make sure you’re an administrator on the device and running a licensed version of Windows 10. Register to join the Windows Insider Program if you haven’t already. Or sign into your Windows Insider account. Click Start flighting.
  2. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Insider Program. Click Get Started.
  3. To get started select + under Pick an account, to connect the Microsoft account you registered with and continue.
  4. Follow the instructions to choose the experience and channel you want to get Insider Preview builds through: the Dev channel (for developers), the beta channel (for early adopters) or the release preview channel (for those who want to get the latest version just before it’s generally released). Note that this build is coming to the Dev channel.
  5. Review the Privacy Statement and terms, and click confirm. Click Restart Now.
  6. After restarting, make sure your data settings are correct so you can download preview builds. To do this, go to Settings > Privacy > Diagnostics & feedback, and make sure the Optional Diagnostic Data switch is flipped On.
  7. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update. Click the Check for updates button. You should see the latest Insider Preview build based on the settings you selected.
  8. From there, your device should update the same way it does with any other Windows update and you’ll be good to go.

Update to Windows 11 When Generally Available!

Once Windows 11 becomes generally available, you’ll download it the same way you would any new version of Windows. Most users will go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and click Check for Updates. If available, you’ll see the Feature update to Windows 11. Click Download and install.

Check Windows 11 Compatibility – Hardware and System Requirements for Win 11

October 4, 2021 by Jahnvi Pahwa Leave a Comment

Windows 11 is the successor of Windows 10 and is built on the same core architecture as Windows 10.

For starters, there’s a new user experience, with refreshed colors and icons, major changes to the Start menu and taskbar, an extensive reworking of the Settings app, a Widgets pane designed to deliver chunks of news and reminders, and an improved way to snap windows into position.

Since the moment Windows 11 has been made as an official announcement, PC users are concerned about just one question, that is ‘Will my PC be able to run Windows 11?’ Well, let us tell you that if your PC meets the basic Windows 11 requirements, you’ll be good to go.

Here are some Hardware and system requirements for Windows 11

Before we move on to requirements, make yourself aware that PCs can run Windows 11 within the Insider Program. But when the official release goes out on October 5, 2021, those machines will no longer be able to upgrade to newer Windows 11 versions.

  • Processor: 64-bit architecture at 1 GHz or faster; Intel: eight-generation or newer; AMD Ryzen 3 or better; Qualcomm Snapdragon 7c or higher
  • RAM: 4 GB or higher
  • Storage: 64 GB or larger storage device
  • System firmware: UEFI, Secure Boot capable
  • TPM: Trusted Platform Module (TPM) version 2.0
  • Graphics card: Directx 12 or later capable; WDDM 2.0 driver or newer
  • Display: High-def (720p) display, larger than 9” diagonal in size, 8 bits per color channel (or better)
  • Internet connection/MSA: Windows 11 Home edition requires internet connectivity and a Microsoft Account (MSA) to complete device setup on first use. Switching out of Windows 11 Home in S mode likewise requires internet connectivity. For all Windows 11 editions, internet access is needed for updates, and to download and use certain features. An MSA is required for some features as well.

Check Windows 11 compatibility

To check the compatibility, Microsoft has its own tool named Microsoft PC Health Check. To download PC Health Check, you must be a registered Windows Insider and logged into the associated Microsoft account. Follow these steps to test whether your computer can run Windows 11.

  1. Download Microsoft’s PC Health Check- Open the file, agree to the terms of service and click Install. Make sure the box is checked that says Open PC Health Check, and click Finish.
  2. The app home page that pops up says, “PC health at a glance” At the top, a box reads, “Introducing Windows 11” Click Check now.

You will be notified saying ‘This PC doesn’t currently meet Windows 11 system requirements’ if your PC is not compatible. On the contrary, if your machine is compatible, you can download the Windows 11 update for free once it is available.

There are other options as well to check the compatibility. Check hardware requirements for Windows 11 on the WhyNotWin11 app. It is a Github app created by a developer who is not associated with Microsoft but may give you detailed information regarding all the Windows 11 requirements.

The other option is to go through the list of specifications for Windows 11 released by Microsoft.

Windows 11 Explained: Features & Updates Releasing on 5 Oct

September 13, 2021 by Jahnvi Pahwa Leave a Comment

Windows 11: Introduction

The hype of Windows 11 has already started as it is a major update since Windows 10, 2015.

Windows 11 Logo

It is coming out later this year, on 5th October 2021. Microsoft says it will be available as a free upgrade if you’ve got a Windows 10 PC and new PCs with Windows 11 pre-installed will show up in time for the holidays, too.

Windows 11 features a big redesign along with lots of new features. The entire Windows 11 Operating System has appeared online, completely with a new user interface, start menu, and lots more. It switches up its look with rounded corners, but it also includes a lot of productivity upgrades, including Snap Layouts for running multiple apps at once.

Features of Windows 11

What’s new in Taskbar?

Taskbar has experienced some biggest changes that you may notice. In Windows 11, Microsoft has centered the app icons here, cleaned up the tray area, and included a new Start button and menu. But you can move those back to the left if you prefer, as they are in Windows 10.

Windows meets Android Apps!

Android Apps on Windows 11

Now, this is something Windows users have been waiting for, for years, yes, android apps are coming to Windows 11. You’ll be able to get them through the Microsoft Store, but notably, Microsoft has partnered up with Amazon to bring the Amazon Appstore to the Microsoft Store. That means, there will finally be a touch-friendly Kindle app coming to Windows. It’ll mark another move toward the merging of mobile and laptop devices.

Calculator’s changed too?

The calculator has also received some minor changes in its interface as well as in the backend. It has been rewritten in a programming language called C#. This will allow developers to contribute to the app’s improvements on GitHub.

Regardless of the current Windows theme that you’re using, you can now set the calculator’s theme to dark or light.

In addition to this, with the new Microsoft Windows 11 visual style, the mail and calendar apps have also been upgraded.

Snap Layouts in Win 11!

snap layouts on windows 11

Windows 11 is bringing us Snap Layouts. This is something cool! In Win 11, you can hover over the maximize button, and you’ll be presented with layout options. One can select one of the tiles in the layouts, and the app will snap to that position on the screen. Since Microsoft has never supported three apps side by side before, it’ll be a major help to the people who use big screens (ultra wide monitors) along with others.

What’s in for Gamers?

The new Windows 11 is good news for gamers. It has improved the Xbox experience. Auto HDR, a feature first included in Xbox Series X|S consoles, and now coming to Windows automatically adds HDR to older games, as one can probably guess from the name.

Windows 11 Gaming Experience

Another feature coming is Xbox Cloud Gaming that is going to be built-in. It’s going to be part of the Xbox app on Windows 11, although, there’s no reason that the app update shouldn’t come to Windows 10 as well. We’ll have to wait and see if Windows 10 users get the feature.

New to DirectStorage? Here’s What It Does!

DirectStorage is also being borrowed from the company’s latest consoles. The condition is that one would be required with “DirectStorage Optimized” PC for this one. It’s going to allow for super-fast loading times and better performance.

Comparisons Between Win 8, Win 10 & Windows 11!

Windows 11 brings a lot more than just design changes. Let me throw some light on what’s changed from win 8, 10 to Windows 11.

From WIN 8 to 11!

Windows has been focused on sharp corners ever since Windows 8, and those squared-off tiles made their way into Windows 10 as well. In Windows 11 we can see the corners rounded. Also, we’ll get to see some visual differences from Windows 10.

Windows 10 issues solved in 11!

In Windows 10, it was harder to set up virtual desktops whereas this time in Windows 11 operating system it is much easier to toggle between multiple desktops at once for school, personal, professional or gaming use.

Here’s how you can update to Windows 11!

Once Windows 11 becomes generally available, you’ll download it the same way you would any new version of Windows. Most users will go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and click Check for Updates. If available, you’ll see the Feature update to Windows 11. Click Download and install. We are so looking forward to Windows 11 as it is expected to release next month.

Keep yourself updated on Windows 11 from our blog. Also, let us know if you have any suggestions.
